Delgado Statement on Victory in NY-19 Democratic Primary
KINGSTON, NY — Tonight, NY-19 Democratic nominee Antonio Delgado issued the following statement regarding his victory in the Democratic Primary. “I first want to congratulate my colleagues, Jeff Beals, Dave Clegg, Erin Collier, Brian Flynn, Gareth Rhodes and Pat Ryan. You all ran tough, good-natured campaigns and worked hard to give the people of this region an incredible selection of candidates to choose from. I am grateful to have had this opportunity to become acquainted with each of you. I thank you for your commitment to serve the people of the Hudson Valley and the Catskills and look forward to working alongside you in the months ahead.
Tonight, we have taken the first step toward restoring dignity and integrity to our representation in New York 19. The people have spoken loudly and clearly. More than ideology, more than identity, more than class or background, we can all stand tall behind the unifying principles that our country was founded upon: freedom, justice, equality and opportunity for all. As I have traveled to every part of this region over the last year and a half I have heard the stories of struggle, of people feeling like they are being pushed into the margins, left behind and forgotten. It’s time to turn that around and work hard for universal, affordable quality healthcare for all, to bring good jobs back to the Hudson Valley and the Catskills, and to create an economy that works for all of us. I look forward to continuing to engage all of our friends and neighbors in New York 19 and I promise to show up, listen to you, and be your champion. We have worked hard to earn this victory, but that hard work is just beginning. I look forward to taking on John Faso and restoring accountability to our representation.”
