Fifth Generation Schoharie Valley Farmer and Business Owner Jim Barber Endorses Antonio Delgado

Today, former New York State Executive Director for the USDA Farm Service Agency and fifth generation Middleburgh farmer Jim Barber endorsed Antonio Delgado for Congress in New York’s 19th District.

“I am proud to endorse Antonio Delgado,” said Barber. “He is committed to listening to the people of our region, including our farmers and those working in agriculture. I know that Antonio will work hard to expand and improve opportunities for our local farmers and help them better access and participate in federal farm programs. Running the daily operations of our 160-year-old family farm has instilled in me the value of hard work. I recognize that same quality in Antonio and know he will bring real representation back to our district.”

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Jim Barber,” Delgado said. “Jim has worked tirelessly in public service to give back to the community where his family has farmed for six generations. He understands the concerns of local farmers and has worked to bring about solutions that benefit our small and mid-tier farms. We have been able to discuss issues like access to markets, declining dairy prices, lack of infrastructure, organic certification and the need to better access lines of credit for new farmers. I look forward to working together and continuing these important conversations.”
