Alliance for Retired Americans Endorses Antonio Delgado
Today, Delgado for Congress announced that the Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA) has endorsed Antonio Delgado to represent New York’s 19th congressional district.
“The fate of seniors’ earned benefits is on the ballot this year – and that’s why we’re proud to endorse Antonio Delgado,” said Barry Kaufmann, President of the New York State Alliance for Retired Americans. “He will fight to lower prescription drug costs while protecting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Unlike his opponent, who voted in support of an age tax on seniors by allowing insurance companies to charge five times more than younger people for health insurance, Antonio has demonstrated that he is a leader who will fight to protect Medicare from privatization, and ensure quality, affordable health care for all older Americans and retirees.”
“I am honored to have the support of the ARA,” said Delgado. “We share a commitment to protecting programs that older Americans have worked so hard to earn and to ensuring quality, affordable healthcare for everyone. My opponent voted for a health care bill that would have gutted protections for pre-existing conditions and increased health care costs for seniors, but I am committed to expanding access to quality health care for everyone. There is no reason that programs like Medicare and Social Security should be cut to pay for a tax break to a wealthy few, although that is exactly what the Republicans in Washington are doing. That is wrong. I am committed to fighting to lower drug costs, protect hard earned entitlements, and will be an advocate for older Americans while in Congress.”
The Alliance for Retired Americans is a nationwide grassroots advocacy organization that represents more than 4.4 million retirees, older Americans and community activists, including 697,999 members in New York state.
