Daily Star: Delgado forms business advisory committee

U.S. Rep. Antonio Delgado, D-Rhinebeck, announced the creation of his 19th Congressional District Small Business Advisory Committee on Monday, including representatives from the local area.

The committee will meet with Delgado regularly to advise him on the priorities of small businesses in the area and legislation before the House regarding small business owners and the economy, according to a media release.

“The 19th Congressional District is home to more than 27,000 small businesses and self-employed owners, and I am proud to advocate on their behalf as a member of the Small Business Committee in the House of Representatives.” Delgado said in the release. “I look forward to working together to advance legislation and policies that will ensure small businesses across Upstate can continue to grow and thrive.”

“I am honored to serve Congressman Delgado on his small business advisory committee along with my fellow colleagues he has chosen,” Jody Zakrevsky, CEO of Otsego Now, said in the release. “Small businesses are the backbone of Otsego County’s and much of upstate New York’s economy and I am grateful the Congressman recognizes their importance.”

Ray Pucci, president of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce said, “Addressing the concerns of our small business owners is critical to supporting communities throughout the NY-19 district. I’m happy to collaborate with other business leaders and Rep. Delgado to ensure that our voices are heard.”

Other local members of the committee are:

• Glenn Nealis, Delaware County Office of Economic Development director.

• Steve Wilson, county administrator and economic development coordinator at the Schoharie County Office of Economic Development.

• Rodney Thorsland, owner of Nick’s Diner in Oneonta.
